Rain gardens are one of the most practical tools homeowners have for managing stormwater right in our own backyards. We’ll hear from Kendra Sommerfeld who works at Rice Creek Watershed District for an informative and inspiring presentation on how rain gardens work, ways to design/install one, and how to fill them with beautiful native plants. She will also share some local grant opportunities for people wanting to take action now and create a rain garden!

Kendra will also explore creative ways to incorporate rain gardens into yards, parks, and public spaces, and share how you can advocate for smarter residential stormwater solutions in your neighborhood and city.

Whether you already have a rain garden or don’t know what rain gardens are, you’ll learn something in this presentation. This is a great opportunity to learn how a small rain garden can make a big difference for your local watershed, lakes, and rivers.
